Empowering Women: Solumed's Female Professionals Lead the Way on International Women's Day

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, 2023, Solumed stands in solidarity with UN Women and the United Nations in recognizing the theme of DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality. As an innovator in the digital/medical technology space, Solumed acknowledges the significant contributions made by women in the digital world and the need for greater gender equality in the industry.

At Solumed, we are proud to have a workforce that is predominantly made up of women, with several female leaders heading up departments. Our innovative solutions empower women by alleviating them from traditional tasks and freeing up their time to unlock their potential and explore their creativity. Our gender-neutral technology enables medical practices to realize their full potential without any gender bias.

Here’s what some of the women from Solumed feel inspired by in the digital age:

Maite Ramashaba (Team Lead – Sales and Marketing): “You can absolutely be what you can’t see! That’s what innovators and disruptors do.” – Kimberly Bryant

Este du Plessis (Scrum Master): “There’s something so special about a woman who dominates in a man’s world. It takes a certain grace, strength, intelligence, fearlessness, and the nerve to never take no as an answer.” – Rihanna

Nathalie Nel (Call Centre Supervisor): “There’s power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice. And there’s grace in being willing to know and hear others. This for me, is how we become.” – Michelle Obama

While the digital age presents an unprecedented opportunity for the global empowerment of women and other marginalized groups, women continue to face significant barriers, including underrepresentation in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education and gender-based bias and violence online. However, the resilience of women and the possibilities presented by digital technology provide hope for a more equitable future.

This year, as the UN calls on governments, activists, and the private sector to continue their efforts to promote gender equality in the digital world, Solumed reaffirms its commitment to innovation and technology for a more inclusive and equitable society.
